The vibration sensor
Your Keynetic device has two sources for capturing the vibration needed for stop detection or automatic parts counting.
- A vibration sensor referred to as internal, which is the one your device uses by default
- A vibration sensor referred to as external. This is a remote sensor connected via a cable, which can be plugged into the back of your device via an M8 connector provided for this purpose. It allows the vibration measurement to be taken as close as possible to the area most representative of your production, while keeping the device in a location accessible to your operators, so they can use the touchscreen as close as possible to their workstation
This is also referred to as the internal/external channel.
Measurement axis
The internal and external sensors use a single-axis piezoelectric accelerometer. The measurement depends directly on the sensor's orientation. Poor alignment with the machine's main vibration direction can significantly reduce the measured signal.
Gain
Gain adjusts the sensitivity of the vibration measurement. It allows you to adjust the "volume" of the vibration signal.
- Gain too low: The signal is too small, and the differences between stop and production can be difficult to distinguish, as can production cycles
- Gain too high: The signal can become too sensitive to noise (background vibrations, shocks, etc.), which can degrade the stability of stop detection and automatic parts counting
The goal is therefore to adjust the gain to obtain a vibration signal with a clear variation between production and stop phases, without saturation or excessive noise.
The default gain is set to 32 and corresponds to the best gain value in most cases.
Changing the sensor and gain
From your device's screen
- Go to the Machinoscope from the left-hand side menu (wave icon)
- Press the Settings icon (top right)
- A Sensor settings window then appears
- Then choose Internal or External on the Sensor line
- Then choose the desired gain
- Finally, click Confirm to save your changes, or the cross to cancel your changes
From your device's configuration server
Log in to your device's configuration server, then:
- On the Calibration widget, click the Calibrate calculators button
- A new page appears
- On the Sensor widget, open the settings (gear icon)
- Then choose Internal or External under the Channel line
- Then choose the desired gain
- Finally, click Save to apply your changes, or the cross to cancel your changes
