As soon as a downtime is detected by a Keyprod device (Keyvibe, Keynetic, or Keysmart), it is automatically categorized as an undefined downtime.
Through our Application or via the Keynetic device interface, shopfloor teams can, in real time or afterward, assign the actual cause of this downtime. This ensures that your production events can be analyzed consistently and reliably across all equipped machines. Categorizing downtimes is the first step toward continuous improvement and increased equipment performance!
This document explains the different ways to categorize downtimes. You can choose the method depending on how you want to integrate Keyprod into your processes and the devices you are using.
Via the Keyprod Application
(Option 1) From a "Machine" dashboard and the events timeline
Step 1: Click on the timeline to open the categorization window.
Step 2: Select a cause of downtime to categorize an event
Browse through the list defined by your administrator and choose the correct downtime cause. You can expand the list of causes via the "Expand categories" button at the top right of the window.
Clicking the arrow on the right side of the screen opens a comment field where you can add additional information accessible to your teammates and managers.
Each downtime consists of a start date/time and an end date/time. If your access rights allow it, you can adjust these values. This is especially useful when a downtime is composed of several stages (e.g., waiting for setup followed by setup).
Step 3: Finalize the categorization
You can categorize several downtimes in a row from this window. Once done, click Validate to save your actions. The timeline will refresh in less than one minute.
(Option 2) From the "Categorization" page
The Categorization page allows for quicker categorization of downtimes. It is particularly useful when shopfloor teams do not need additional production details (unlike the Machine dashboards such as Utilization).
Step 1: On the Categorization page, the most recent undefined downtime will be automatically selected
Step 2: Click on a downtime cause, and it will be saved automatically
A confirmation bar at the bottom right of the screen confirms that the action was successfully saved.
(Option 3) From the Stops table
Step 1: Select the machines and dates for which you want to view undefined downtimes
The following example dispay the downtimes on the "Machine VBE 1" for the 09th of September 2025.
Step 2: Filter the table to display only undefined downtimes
Step 3: Click the pencil icon at the end of the row to open the categorization modal
If multiple downtimes need categorization, you can select them using the checkboxes. A multi-categorization button will appear, allowing you to categorize many downtimes at once.
For better readability, a card view is available via the three-dot menu on the right side of the table.
You can also simplify the interface by hiding data, showing only the table, or by switching to fullscreen mode in the top right corner.
This allows you to create a very easy to use operator view on a tablet, displaying only uncategorized downtimes.
(Option 4) Creating events in real-time without detected downtimes
In some cases, you may need to manually create a production event at the moment it occurs. This is possible for all roles except Simplified Operator, via the "Create an event" button on top of the Machine dashboards.
The categorization modal will open. The event will start at the moment you click and will be recorded as ongoing until a device event ends it.
You can also manually enter start and end dates/times to create a past event. In this case, the manual entry will replace any previously detected production data, and indicators will be recalculated accordingly.
Via the Keynetic Device Interface
If you have a Keynetic device, you can categorize undefined downtimes directly from the device interface.
Step 1: Go to the Events page by clicking the button in the left navigation bar
When an undefined downtime occurs, a card will display the date and time. The device lists all undefined downtimes, from the most recent to the oldest.
Step 2: Click on a downtime to display the list of causes
Browse through the administrator-defined list and select the relevant cause. The save is instantaneous and automatic!
